About Nicolas "Nico" Rondet

Nico Rondet has been a professional race car driver for over 20 years. His professional racing career has taken him from  Go-Karts in Brasil to both Touring Car and Open-Wheel racing in France and England.  The late-1990's had him competing in the Barber Dodge Pro Series (The Open-Wheel development series for former CART).  Rondet won every stage of the development ladder: the Dodge 2.0 liter Championship in 1996, Rookie  of the Year in 1997 and the Series Championship in 2001. His efforts led  him to a partial year at the Toyota Atlantics Series in 2002. In 2011, Nico debuted and raced a partial season of the Continental Tire Challenge.

Beyond Nico's talents behind the wheel, his 20 plus year experience in developing the racing craft have also allowed him to build a keen understanding of driving dynamics and telemetry interpretation. Since the early years of his career, Nico has taught performance driving to fellow professionals, up and coming drivers, and driving enthusiasts.

In 2007 Nico joined the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School as the Chief Instructor at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. The school has now transitioned to Simraceway’s Performance Driving Center where Nico also dedicates time to development and testing of physics for the Simraceway Online Racing platform.

NICO: The IRONMAN Triathlete Supporting Special Causes

Nico's' number one priority outside of driving is maintaining top notch fitness. Inspired by the likes of Ayrton Senna, Nico follows a very methodic multisport training regimen. For the last 12 years he has made triathlon (swimming, cycling and running) his fitness and conditioning ally. Nico began his training with a group of athletes that trains and raises funds for charities with the goal of racing at Ironman events.  Over the years he has raced in all levels of triathlons from Sprint, Olympic, Half Ironman (70.3), and his favorite, the Ironman distance (140.6 - for total miles travelled in the race). Nico heads into the water for the 2.4 mile swim, puts on his road handling skills & aerodynamic prowess on the 112 mile bike ride, and brings it to the finish line with a 26.2 mile run. Always ready for an extra challenge, Nico has also taken to the dirt and high altitude offerings of the Xterra Off-Road Triathlons.

In the last couple of years, it appears that other fellow drivers have discovered the benefits and thrills that the triathlon lifestyle and racing offer. Tony Kanaan completed his first Ironman in November of 2011 and appears to be hooked. Jenson Button has also competed in various Olympic distance events. Congratulations to them both!

Rondet has raced in Ironman-distance triathlons in support of the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.

The CAF raises money to help people with physical  disabilities pursue an active lifestyle through physical fitness and  competitive athletics.
